winter time hair care

How to care hair in winter

In the winter season, taking care of your hair becomes somewhat reduced. This is because proper hair care is often neglected during the winter season. Moreover, there is a higher chance of accumulating dust and dirt in your hair due to the windy weather in winter. Also, there is a significant amount of dandruff in your hair during winter. Dryness is visible on the skin during winter, leading to more dandruff on the scalp. Alongside this, problems like hair fall and hair breakage become common during the winter season.

So let’s learn how to take care of your hair in winter and address all these issues a bit.

To Moisturize the Scalp in Winter:

Due to the cold weather in winter, the skin on our scalp often becomes drier than usual. So, you can use some homemade remedies to moisturize this dryness. For example, items like amla (Indian gooseberry), fenugreek seeds, honey, etc., can be used. The ingredients present in these items help to moisturize the scalp and reduce dryness.

You can soak two tablespoons of dried amla and fenugreek seeds in a cup of water overnight, and then mix them with two to three tablespoons of honey. Blend them and apply the mixture to your scalp.

Massage and Conditioning:

If you want to massage and condition your hair, you can make a remedy using the following methods. After applying this mixture for about 20 minutes or more, you can wash your hair with shampoo. After using this for a few days, you will notice that your hair becomes soft and strong.

Ingredients: One ripe banana, two to three small-sized pears, and one tablespoon of honey.

Blend or mix these ingredients well and apply the mixture to your hair. Also, try to give a good massage to your scalp.

Regular Hair Washing:

In winter, most of us prefer using hot water for regular hair washing. However, sometimes we tend to skip washing our hair for a few days. As a result, we often see dryness and dullness in our scalp skin during winter. Additionally, the air becomes dry in winter, leading to an increase in dandruff. When we go outside, the dust and dirt stick to our hair more, causing further problems. To keep your hair healthy, you must wash your hair regularly, but avoid using hot water.

Trimming Split Ends:

Many people face the problem of split ends during the winter season. Trimming the split ends can be a good solution to this problem, as it helps your hair grow faster.

Using Aloe Vera:

Using aloe vera can help in moisturizing your hair. The elements present in aloe vera help to moisturize your hair, keeping it free from dryness and roughness during winter.

Covering Hair:

To prevent excessive dust and dirt from sticking to your hair, it’s essential to cover your head when going outside. By covering your head, you can minimize the chances of dirt particles getting trapped in your hair.

Oil Massage:

To keep your hair healthy in winter, it’s necessary to massage your scalp with oil at least once a week. As the winter season tends to dry out your skin and scalp, causing dryness and flakiness, oil massage can be helpful. Some good options for oil massage are coconut oil, olive oil, and amla oil. Massaging these oils into your scalp can help alleviate hair problems during winter.
